The area surrounding the village of Chesaning contains a surprisingly high number of now lost and forgotten places of interest, most of which no longer appear on any map, and many that have even faded from local memory.
We conclude our tour of Chesaning in the year 1877 with a few last points of interest that are scattered throughout the village.
The first railroad ever built in Michigan started service all the way back in 1830, but rail service did not reach Chesaning until decades later, with the first train arriving amidst an elaborate opening ceremony in September of 1867.
