Prior investigations have revealed that several of the homes currently standing on the East side of the river in Chesaning also appear on the 1877 map of the village, making them rare survivors from the Pioneer era. Let us now turn our attention to the West side of the river, and that section of the village that lies north of Broad Street.
Today we’ll look at another home that appears on the 1877 map of Chesaning. One that was demolished sometime in the early 2000’s, but that might have had some historical significance.

Our attempt to understand the historical layout of Chesaning has so far focused almost exclusively on commercial buildings. However, the 1877 map of Chesaning reveals the presence of at least a few structures that are a close match for some currently extant homes.
